Home alarms are supposed to keep our place of residence safe and free from threats posed by burglars. It is always comforting to have remote surveillance features in your home alarm system so that you can keep tabs on what is happening when you are away. However, these feature can be compromised by a determined hacker. They can hack into the system, and have access to live feeds from your home, retrieve archived recording, and take control of the camera and pretty much do whatever they want to compromise the entire system.
Wireless IP Connection
Most of the sophisticated home alarm systems use wireless IP connections for surveillance at the central command center or through the homeowner’s mobile devices. The threat here is that it is possible for a hacker to hack into the connection and intercept all information being sent through the protocol. Once they are in the system, they can gain valuable information and control, which will put your entire home in jeopardy. However, such instances of hacking can be avoided by ensuring that the system is using an updated version of the software, using strong passwords and ensuring that the connection is encrypted and well secured.
